The Turkish President said in a statement that poetry, film and music are as addictive as cigarettes and alcohol, and therefore are not healthy and should be stopped. We are trying to live in a place where it is a crime to talk about freedom of expression. In such situations, art, by its very nature, takes a strong stance and becomes a spear that can transcend time.

In this interactive installation, the aim is for the viewers to take the poems rolled up like cigarettes through the cigarette box as they wish. The cigarette box ironically bears the warning “Reading poetry is highly addictive”. The poems in the cigarette box can be opened, read and taken by the viewer. The cigarette box will be refilled as it becomes empty.
