Three Countries, 2019

Diren examines the reality of laws and social fabric. Each country’s own social structure become more insignificant in the area of intersection with the border regions, while increasing it’s authenticity as it moves to the center of that country. In order to expose the unspoken structure of rules, laws and social fabric, Diren uses nudity and goes to a crossing point where three countries (Netherlands, Belgium, Germany) intersect and walks along the boundary lines.
Performance also argues the fact that EU borders are quite inaccessible for the people outside, while it seems “border free” inside.
