A series of historical or political revelations that were censored by the Turkish media were hidden in the Scratchcard Series. These censored news did not gain sufficient visibility, were not discussed, and were forgotten. The installation aims to influence the viewer in an interactive way by transcending a one way communication form, the viewer has to scrape the surface of the work in order to see the content in the series. The hidden contents can be uncovered by scratching with 1 Turkish Lira on a thin plinth.

The content used in the series consists of the testimonies of the ‘Saturday Mothers’, a group of mothers seeking the rights of their sons who were illegally kidnapped and tortured to death in prison, and the families of 3 Syrian refugee workers who were burned to death in Turkey in 2022. As the censored news in Turkey increases, the presentations in the series expand with each exhibition.
