The audio recordings sent by individuals who were displaced and whose life and emotional state changed due to the conflicts that broke out after February 24 explain how the war was experienced at an individual level. The “Spells” sound installation offers a space of expression that gives visibility to individual stories of Ukrainian citizens. Each participant sent audio recordings in the language they “feel safe”. Some were in English, some in Ukrainian, and some were old lullabies. Some of the participants had already migrated abroad, some were in Ukraine and some of them were on their way back to the country to support the resistance and defence.
