The Temple of Virgins was a piece of land located in the middle of the sea in Maltepe 75 years ago, which people could reach by swimming 50 meters in the sea. Although it’s image has remained as the logo of the municipality for years, it has been forgotten. Today the monument is 700 meters away from the sea shore. The current location of the temple has become the parking lot of a supermarket. The white statue in the middle of the temple was stolen and could not be found.
Drawing attention to the distance that the years have brought between the monument and the sea, Diren stretches a gray thread starting from the monument to the sea. Performance aims to reveal the invisible space in between.
